George Tavares for a Better Ward 7

I am George Tavares, and I am running for Ward 7 Councillor because daily life in Mississauga is telling residents something important. Your vote is leverage, not loyalty.

For years, voters have heard the same promises.

Lower taxes. Safer streets. Better roads. Better transit. More housing. More open government.

Those are good goals. The problem is not the promise. The problem is the result.

Taxes keep rising. Housing keeps getting harder to afford. Traffic keeps getting worse. Major projects keep moving forward before residents see a clear public benefit. Too often, people are asked to trust the same process that produced the same frustration.

That does not mean anyone was wrong to vote the way they voted before. People made reasonable choices with the information they had at the time.

But voting is not a lifetime contract. You are allowed to update your vote when the results no longer match the promise.

I ran city wide in 2022 and 2024 because I believed Mississauga needed a stronger voice on taxes, spending, infrastructure, safety, and accountability. Since then, residents, elected officials, and people involved in public life have given me clear advice.

Prove it on council first. I agree. That is why I am running in Ward 7.

Ward 7 is not a community I observe from a distance. It is where I live.

I live on Hurontario Street and North Service Road, directly beside some of the largest changes affecting our city. I have watched the LRT and hospital construction reshape traffic, disrupt daily routines, and place serious pressure on businesses that once served vibrant local communities.

I also hear directly from residents dealing with safety concerns, slow police responses, construction noise, traffic congestion, and poor communication from the agencies responsible.

These are not issues I discovered during an election. They are outside my door. I can see the effects, speak directly with the people affected, and respond because I am part of the community experiencing them.

The difference is that I did not start paying attention when I decided to run for this seat. I have spent the last four years doing the work.

I attended Council meetings, Regional Council meetings, committee meetings, budget meetings, and public consultations. I made deputations. I reviewed budgets, staff reports, infrastructure plans, and spending decisions. I worked with residents, community groups, City staff, senior management, elected officials, and finance officials at both the City of Mississauga and the Region of Peel.

I showed up before the campaign. I showed up to understand how decisions are made, where taxpayer dollars are spent, where the process is weak, and why so many residents feel they are paying more while receiving less.

My background is in business, political science, engineering, and smart city design. That matters because Ward 7 does not need louder politics. It needs practical oversight.

It needs someone who can read a budget. Someone who can question a staff report. Someone who can understand infrastructure, traffic, construction, service delivery, and public safety. Someone who knows the difference between an announcement and a result.

Not slogans but evidence.

In 2022, I received 5,613 votes in the Mississauga mayoral race. It was a message from residents who wanted stronger accountability at City Hall.

Now I am asking Ward 7 residents to send that message directly to Council.


There are two ways to look at this election.

The usual way is to ask who has the most familiar name.

The better way is to ask who has already done the work, asked the hard questions, challenged the spending, showed up before election season, and understands what needs to change.


That is the standard I am bringing to this campaign. Proof before spending. Results before announcements.  Accountability before excuses.


Residents should not have to beg to understand where their tax money went. You should not need to decode budget language to know whether the city is becoming more affordable or less affordable. You should not be told that major public spending is good for you before anyone explains what changes in your daily life.

Ward 7 deserves a Councillor who treats your vote as leverage. Not loyalty. Not habit. Not a blank cheque.
